Interpreting in public and community contexts
This research area investigates dialogue interpreting in public service and community settings, examining communication and participation across legal, healthcare, social care, asylum, prison and humanitarian contexts. Particular attention is paid to migration, mental health, gender-based violence, LGBTQIA+ communities and other contexts in which equitable, interpreter-mediated communication is essential.

Interpreting, accessibility and social justice
This research area explores the intersections of interpreting, translation, equity, inclusion and accessibility. Our research addresses interpreting ethics, language and translation policies, multilingualism, trauma-informed and user-centred approaches, as well as queer and activist perspectives. It also focuses on accessible communication, including dialogue and speech-to-text interpreting, and the professionalisation of interpreting. A particular focus lies on diverse communities and equitable communication.

This research area explores interpreter education, professional development and professionalisation across diverse interpreting contexts. Our research addresses interpreting and translation education, didactics, competence development, interpreting quality, and interprofessional, intraprofessional and interdisciplinary collaboration, with a focus on fostering sustainable professional practice and effective cooperation in interpreter-mediated encounters.
